Car Rental with Baby Seat in Prague — Child Seats Always Free
Travelling to Prague with a child changes the rental calculation. You need enough boot space for the pushchair, a rear door wide enough to install the seat without performing gymnastics on a busy Prague pavement, and enough legroom in the back that a toddler isn't kicking the front seats for two hours.
At CarLove, child and baby seats are provided free of charge with any rental. You simply request the seat type when booking. No hidden fee, no separate reservation, no surprise at the counter.
What Types of Child Seats Does CarLove Provide?
CarLove provides three types of child restraints, covering all age groups from newborn to approximately 12 years:
Baby/infant seat (Group 0+/1) — for children from birth up to approximately 18 kg. Rear-facing installation. Suitable for infants and young toddlers.
Child seat (Group 1/2) — for children approximately 9–25 kg (roughly 9 months to 6 years). Forward-facing with harness.
Booster seat (Group 2/3) — for children approximately 15–36 kg (roughly 4–12 years). Uses the car's own seatbelt.
All seats meet EU safety standards. To request the appropriate seat, simply note the child's age and weight when booking online or by phone.
Czech Law: Child Seat Requirements
Czech law requires that all children under 150 cm in height or under 36 kg must use an approved child restraint system in a vehicle. This applies to rental cars as well as private vehicles.
In practice: if your child is under 12 years old and hasn't reached 150 cm, a child seat is legally required. Police checks are regular on Czech roads and at border crossings. A fine for non-compliance is 2,000–10,000 CZK (€80–400).
This is not a technicality — it's enforced.
Best Cars for Families with Children at CarLove
Budget Family Cars — Maximum Space, Minimum Cost
The Dacia Jogger is the standout family car in the CarLove fleet at the entry price level. Available in both manual (Dacia Jogger 7seats 2026) and automatic (Dacia Jogger 7s AT 2026) versions, it offers genuine 7-seat capacity in a standard-class vehicle. Fold the third row and you have an enormous boot; keep all rows up and you carry two adults, children, and luggage without creative stacking. Boot space with 5 seats: 272 litres. With third row folded: 608 litres.
For families who don't need the extra seats, the Hyundai i30 Combi AT 2024 offers one of the most generous boot spaces in the Standard class (602 litres) — enough for a pushchair plus luggage. Long, low loading sill, wide tailgate opening.
Mid-Range Family SUVs
The Hyundai Tucson AT 2025 and Renault Austral 2026 are the most popular choices for families on multi-day itineraries. Elevated seating position makes loading and unloading a child seat significantly easier than in a low-slung saloon. Both have ISOFIX anchor points, full ISOFIX compatibility confirmed on all rear seats.
The Dacia Bigster AT 2026 is worth considering if you're travelling with more gear than passengers — it offers the largest boot in its class at an honest price.
For business-class comfort with family utility, the Škoda Superb Combi 2024 combines a vast estate boot (660 litres) with the ride quality of a premium car. Two children's seats in the rear, luggage for a week, pushchair — no compromises.
Large 7-Seater SUVs
When the family is larger, or you're travelling with grandparents, the 7-seat configuration becomes essential.
The Renault Espace 7 seats 2026 is the most practical 7-seater in the fleet: sliding second-row seats, three individual rear seats in the middle row (meaning three proper ISOFIX positions), and a configurable third row. Ideal for two adults, two children with seats, and two grandparents.
The Škoda Kodiaq 2026 offers a different take on 7-seat travel — more SUV presence on the road, slightly more boot depth when the third row is folded, and the reassuring Škoda build quality.
Premium Family Choice
For families where comfort is the priority and budget less so, the Hyundai Santa Fe 2025 combines a large SUV footprint with premium interior quality. And the Volvo XC90 2025 — Volvo's flagship SUV — is arguably the world's most child-friendly premium car. Volvo's reputation for child passenger safety is unmatched, the interior is genuinely quiet on motorway journeys, and the 7-seat configuration is the most comfortable at this size.
Practical Tips: Travelling with Children in Prague
Pushchair in Prague: Old Town cobblestones are challenging for smaller pushchair wheels. A larger-wheeled travel system manages much better. Keep this in mind when choosing the pushchair you pack.
Parking near attractions: Prague city centre has paid parking zones and limited access areas. Plan ahead and use the P+R lots near metro stations if you're going into the centre with a child — walking from Florenc or Nusle is far less stressful than driving with a toddler in the historic centre.
Car seat installation: CarLove staff will show you how the seat is installed correctly at pickup. All seats are clean, up to safety standards, and checked before each rental.
Longer road trips: If you're driving to Krkonoše, Dresden, or Vienna, factor in extra time. Children need stops every 1.5–2 hours. The Czech motorway network has regular rest areas with facilities.
