Adršpach Rocks by Car from Prague: Tickets, Parking and Route

Adršpach is a maze of sandstone towers, some more than 50 metres tall, with narrow passages and forest paths between them. In season, you can add a short boat trip on a small lake among the rocks. Allow roughly two to two and a half hours each way from Prague in normal driving conditions. A car lets you plan the day at your own pace, but the train is also an option: Adršpach station is right beside the entrance to the rock city.

Unlike many Czech day trips, this one has a practical catch: entry is managed. In busy periods you need a ticket for a chosen date booked online, and parking is a separate payment. Plan the booking first, then the drive. If you are looking for gorges and the Pravčice Gate, that is a different trip: see our Bohemian Switzerland guide.

The route: Prague to Adršpach by car

One practical route follows the D11, then road 37 near Hořenice and roads 301 and 30110 towards Adršpach. After the motorway, you pass through towns and villages, so leave some extra time. Check your navigation and the operator’s traffic notices before setting off. Use the car park you actually booked as your destination: Adršpach and Teplice have different entrances.

Tickets, parking and timing

Three things decide how smooth the day is, and all of them are best handled before you start the engine.

Tickets
Book online, pick a date
Entry to the rocks is sold online for a date you choose, and busy days can sell out. Buying in advance is usually cheaper than at the gate, and it saves you waiting. Check the current prices on the official Adršpach Rocks website.
Parking
Pay separately
Parking is not included in the entrance ticket. At Adršpach you can add it to your online order. If you do not yet know your rental car’s registration number, follow the operator’s instructions and have your parking reservation QR code ready on arrival. The operator confirms that the code also opens the barrier if the vehicle differs from the booking. The car park at Teplice has its own rules; check them separately.
Timing
Arrive early
Weekends and school holidays are usually busiest. An earlier slot may give you a quieter walk and more time for the journey back. Plan your arrival around the entry time on your ticket.
Good to know: the official circuit is 3.5 km long. Boat trips are seasonal and paid for separately in cash in Czech crowns. The boating lake is not the turquoise former quarry lake near the entrance. Dogs must be kept on a lead and are not allowed on the boats. Stay on the marked paths.

What to see inside the rocks

1
Adršpach rocks
The main labyrinth: tall towers with names like the Sugar Loaf, narrow passages and lookouts, with a lake where you can take a short boat ride in season.
2
The path between towers
The marked trail winds through shaded gaps between the rocks. Wear shoes with grip, because stone steps and wet sections are common.
3
Teplice Rocks
The neighbouring rock area has its own entrance and a separate booking system. According to the operator, one valid payment confirmation is sufficient when walking between the two areas along the yellow-marked trail through Vlčí rokle, provided you do not leave the rock area. Check the current conditions and whether the connecting trail is passable before combining both visits.

Which car for the trip

You do not need an off-road vehicle, because the roads to both entrances are paved. A comfortable estate or SUV is the best fit for a day of driving and hiking gear: the Renault Austral and the Volvo V60 are good options. For a family or a group, the Renault Espace with seven seats is another option. If you will use all seven seats, check the remaining luggage space. Child seats are free of charge; agree on the appropriate type when you book.

FAQ

How far is Adršpach from Prague by car?

Allow roughly 170–190 kilometres, depending on your starting point in Prague and the route. Via the D11, the drive takes about two to two and a half hours in normal conditions, without long stops. Traffic, roadworks or a different route can make it longer. Check navigation to your booked car park before setting off.

Do I need to book tickets for the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks in advance?

Advance booking is strongly recommended, especially in high season. Choose an entry time for Adršpach on the official website. If capacity is sold out, the operator says no additional tickets are available at the entrance. Check the separate conditions for Teplice Rocks before planning a visit there.

Is parking included in the ticket?

No, parking is paid for separately. At Adršpach you can add it to the online booking. Have the confirmation and QR code ready and follow the instructions about your vehicle’s registration number. The operator says the QR code also works if you arrive in a different vehicle. Separate rules apply at the Teplice car park; check current rates and conditions before travelling.

Can I do the rocks in winter?

The rocks can be visited outside summer, but conditions change a lot: ice on the paths, shorter days, and some seasonal services such as the boat on the lake not running. Check opening hours and path conditions before you go. If you drive in wintry conditions, ask CarLove about winter tyres for your dates.

What is the difference between Adršpach and Bohemian Switzerland?

Adršpach-Teplice is a sandstone rock city in north-eastern Bohemia, with towers, narrow passages and a small lake with boats. Bohemian Switzerland is in the north-west, near the German border, with gorges, the Pravčice Gate and a different landscape. They are two separate trips.

Is the Czech motorway vignette included?

Yes, the Czech motorway vignette is included in CarLove rentals, so the D11 stretch needs no extra purchase from you.

Can I rent a car with a child seat for the trip?

Yes. Child seats are provided free of charge with CarLove rentals. Ask for the right type when you book: booster, carrier or seat, depending on your child's age and size.
